Job Type/Schedule
This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. This is a time-limited position of up to one year.

This position is in the Department of Internal Medicine, Renal Division. This position is for the Medical School Campus.
Essential Functions
Responsible for assisting with laboratory duties in a research setting under the direction of a faculty member. Technical assistant for studying the kidney glomerulus of model systems such as zebrafish as well as mice.
1. Maintains a zebrafish colony and analyzes the progeny.
2. Performs histological studies on other types of tissue sections (mouse and human samples) and analyzes them by super-resolution microscopy.
3. Assists with research studies, experiments and assays including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment.
4. Performs data entry and maintains data files and detailed laboratory notebooks on research.
5. Prepares tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc.
6. Complies with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
7. Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
8. Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and up to 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting or equivalent combination of education and experience equaling 4 years required.
Preferred Qualifications
* Master's degree preferred.
* Familiarity with zebrafish and mouse husbandry and research.
* Experience with histology, including in situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry, and microscopy.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate with laboratory staff and investigators.
* Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
* Working knowledge of computer software and general lab equipment.
* Experience on rodent anatomy and physiology.
Salary Range
The hiring range for this position is $13.79 - $18.62 per hour.

Works in laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological, chemical and radioactive hazards. Must be physically able to wear protective equipment. Must be able to provide standard care to research animals.
